AllianzGI’s Thies to drop senior role amid restructure

Veteran multi-manager Manuela Thies is to give up her function as head of ‘Vermögensmanagement’ at Allianz Global Investors, Citywire Selector’s sister site Citywire Deutschland has learned.

Thies, who remains head multi-asset active allocation at the German group, will adopt a more supervisory role once a replacement in the position has been found.

The role of head of ‘Vermögensmanagement’ encapsulates elements of fund services, asset management and wealth management.

The changes to Thies’ role come against the backdrop of multiple changes in her multi-asset team.

This saw three managers quit to join MainFirst late last year and Berit Hamann leave for a Hamburg-based independent asset manager last month.

A spokesperson for AllianzGI confirmed that the group was looking for a new leader for the Frankfurt-based team but stressed the new appointee would report to Thies.

Thie's multi-asset team continues to manage more than €20 billion and promoted Frederik Fischer and Simon Frank to the unit in July of last year.
