Former BlackRock fund manager Alice Gaskell has joined Tribe Impact Capital as an investment fellow on its advisory board.
In her new role at the impact-oriented wealth manager, Gaskell will advise Tribe Impact Capital’s investment and impact teams on how to optimise portfolio construction and will also guide the business on its growth path.
She will work with Tribe Impact Capital’s CIO Fred Kooij and his team on the investment process, leveraging her equity experience to boost the firm’s screening and analysis of the asset class.
Gaskell will also apply a gender lens to the investments business strategy to find gender-diverse companies that tend to showcase innovation and resilience as some of their benefits.
During her time at BlackRock she was part of its fundamental active European equity team that looked after $40bn in assets. After leaving BlackRock in 2018, Gaskell joined Women in Banking & Finance to promote a new culture in financial services that engages women as customers, entrepreneurs and employees.
Commenting on her arrival at Tribe, Fred Kooij, said: ‘Alice’s unrivalled market expertise is a huge boost to the Tribe team, and her counsel will play a significant role in shaping how the business develops over the coming years.
‘Her insights have particular value at the moment, as with global financial markets going through a period of unprecedented volatility, there is now greater focus than ever from investors on building truly impactful investment portfolios.’
Gaskell added: ‘It is hard to underestimate the scale of the challenge which the investment industry faces if it is to develop the people, processes and products that can genuinely deliver social impact through our investments. Tribe has rewritten the script, combining first-class impact and investment expertise to deliver truly differentiated portfolios to their clients.’
