Mashreq has announced the appointment of Mufazzal Kajiji as its new head of Mashreq Gold and executive vice president of Mashreq Bank.

Kajiji will replace Ishrat Kiyani. The latter joined Mashreq Bank in 2015 and has left to explore new challenges and opportunities, according to his LinkedIn post.

Based in the UAE, Kajiji joins from Noor Bank where he served as head of retail banking. The industry veteran brings over two decades of experience to his new role.

Prior to his time at Noor Bank, he held senior roles at the First Gulf Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Citibank and Alliance Capital Asset Management.

‘As we look to grow our wealth proposition, we strongly believe that Mashreq will benefit from his knowledge and expertise within the consumer banking space,’ said Subroto Som, executive vice president and group head of retail banking group at the bank.

In his new role, he will help drive Mashreq Gold’s value proposition, and oversee investment mortgage and insurance product segments.

‘I look forward to leveraging, as well as building on Mashreq’s digital capabilities, to offer our clients with a superior and bespoke experience,’ Kajiji said in his statement.
